Welcome to Arleen's craft page. Here you will see my latest (and old) projects including sewing,
needle arts, woodworking, etc.
Our church is involved in a building project and we wanted banners to promote it. Others designed and
cut them out and I sewed them together. (3/03)
As time goes by I find myself trying more and more of the older crafts. This year I'm trying my
hand at spinning. These pictures show my Great Grandmother's spinning wheel that I was oiling (no picture
of it together, but it is), my first plied yarn that I spun and plied on my Great Grandmother's spinning
wheel, and the great wheel Dan bought for me (dog not included). I've managed to spin on the great wheel
also, but so far it takes a lot more effort. I can't seem to get the tension right. (2/03)
Tori wanted a black cat container for Halloween. Using craft foam, a glue gun and Amanda's Harry Potter
caldron from last year, I was able to construct this cat. The handle even gives it an arched back. (10/02)
I found instructions to make this cute witch in Family Fun magazine. It took me a while to collect the
pieces, but most of them I had on hand. To make it more economical, I substituted a plastic table cloth for
real fabric to make the cloak. (10/02)
Tori and I saw a guy on TV who makes puppets. Tori wanted to give Amanda a dinosaur puppet for her birthday,
so I made one. (04/02)
I finally finished the drapes for Amanda's room. It only took 2 years. (02/02)
Dan and I made a quilt shelf for his Mom. (12/00)
I made doll dresses for the 18" dolls the girls got for Christmas. (12/00)
These are pictures of the bobbin lace pillow I made. It is a roller pillow which is only one of many kinds of
pillow forms that bobbin lace can be made on. This pillow is used to make long lace less than 5" wide. Bobbin lace
is a craft that dates back to the 15th century. The lace is made by twisting and crossing the bobbins. (11/00)
